Initiated in 1957, the Leo movement is the youth arm of Lions Clubs International. Leo stands for Leadership, Experience, Opportunity, and provides youth from ages 14 to 28 with the opportunity for development and contribution, both individually and collectively, as responsible members of our community. Today, the Leo movement is considered to be the world’s largest voluntary youth service organization.

The Leo Club of Moratuwa, District 306 A1, Sri Lanka is being sponsored by the Lions Club of Moratuwa, The club was formed in 1979 under the presidency of the Past Council Chairman Lion Cassian Fernando, who was the President of the Lions club of Moratuwa at that time. Lion Neil Hettiarchi was the 1st Leo Advisor of the Leo Club of Moratuwa. They are considered as father and mother of the Leo club of Moratuwa.

The Leo club of Moratuwa is one of the long standing and prestigious Leo Clubs in Sri Lanka.The club is due to celebrate its 31st Anniversary of Certification in November this year. The Leo club of Moratuwa has considered as one of the best clubs in the Leo district 306A1 throughout the past years and has produced Leo Leaders throughout its past years inclusive of 4 past district presidents.
